I was just wondering if there was any way
you could help me out with my 5 yr. overlays and charts.
I have the indicators you sent me and have been trying to get
them to work and they have for the yearly charts and
quarterly, however the indicator for the 5 yr. charts has not
been working. I've only been able to get one bar to
show up on the screen even with setting my data to go back 90 yrs.
Even though the data in most cases has only gone back about
11 yrs or so, when I click to insert the 5 yr. indicator, the
envelope and other indicators don't show up, just
one bar. I know you're extremely busy, but if you could let
me know if there is something I am doing wrong I would greatly
appreciate it.

5 Yr Overlays
Re: 5 Yr Overlays
Send me your settings and what symbol etc, and I'll see...
Maybe send me the workspace.

Re: 5 Yr Overlays
I've attached one of my workspaces so you will be able to see what I am doing wrong
on the yearly and quarterly charts. Again, I appreciate your help with this matter. C.B.

Re: 5 Yr Overlays
I'll look at this a bit more but on first glance I can see what the difficulty is I think.
The issue is not your settings which are OK but the amount of data that you need to display five-year indicators.
You know that the envelope in constructed out of the 1-1 highs and lows for the past three bars, projected on to the next bar, right? Well, when constructing the five year envelope that means that we would have to have at least four five year bars before anything significant started to display, and really we should have more so that the HTP envelopes are starting to flow and we can see the characteristics of them properly. But for the symbol @GC you only have data starting from 2001, thus not enough to really even get started properly with five year envelopes. If you were to change the symbol to something that had tons of back data available, such as $indu, the Dow Jones Index, which goes back in time forever, you would immediately see the five year overlays pop into view. I suggest maybe looking at 2-year HTP overlays rather than 5-year on the gold market and see if that is helpful. Alternatively you can get gold market prices from another data vendor such as CSI that go back further in time and use those...

Re: 5 Yr Overlays
Thank you very much for your help.
I'm going to get in touch with Tradestation and see why
my data is not going back further for the s&p and the Nasdaq.
