When looking at the gold monthly, Charlie has referred to serpent's head, neck, etc... Is he referring to a specific trading pattern? Where can I find info on this?

Sure, this is sort of a playful way of looking at a chart pattern, a pause after a trend... see page 542 of the "How to make money in the futures Market..." book.
