TradeStation and Virus Protection, Proxies, Firewalls, etc.

Post by ted »

TradeStation Support had some useful info on how to configure virus software. This helped us recently and so we are posting it in case it might help others.

Here is a list of programs that rules have to be set up for and I it is attached here. Traders generally have 2 areas of their virus software that need configuration and the first is the scanner or depending on the program, scanners. If using Norton , there are two. The second that has to be done is make rules for each of the 17 programs making sure they have complete access to the internet.

Hope this helps some folks,
Denny

Subject: TradeStation Firewall Configuration

Thank you for using the TradeStation Platform. In order to download and run TradeStation from behind a proxy or firewall, your corporate network must be configured to allow the following [Customers attempting to download and install TradeStation when accessing the Internet via a network that is protected with a Checkpoint Firewall and/or a Microsoft Proxy server should provide these instructions to their network administrators]:

• Incoming and outgoing TCP/IP connections through port 11000, 11001, and 11020.
• Incoming and outgoing TCP/IP connections to the following address range:
63.99.207.xxx (from 63.99.207.001 to 63.99.207.254)
63.99.254.xxx (from 63.99.254.001 to 63.99.254.254)

72.5.192.xxx (from 72.5.192.001 to 72.5.192.254)

Listed below are the TradeStation files, which need to run and have access to the Internet. You will need to configure your Firewall and Anti-Virus applications to allow these files to run.

You should provide this information to your network administrator if you have trouble either downloading the program or connecting to the service to get data.

Sometimes proxy servers or firewalls will block certain ports or addresses. To make sure that this is not occurring, see if you can make a Telnet connection to 63.99.207.100 and 64.74.235.102 from inside your proxy. You should make sure that the Telnet connection is not immediately dropped after connection. The timeout settings of your proxy may have to be adjusted so that the connection will not be dropped immediately.

Thank you for choosing TradeStation and have a great day!
